Re: Cruising to Alaska
From Frommers about NCL's Norwegian Suns cigar bar.
"The dimly lit cigar lounge with it's oversized soft leather furniture and out of the way location is the most appealing place on the ship for quiet conversations (unless of course you can't stand smoke)....." Man when people who "can't stand smoke" stick their heads in the door of these lounges they run away like scared rabbits. Love it!!
Anyway it sounds like a winner. On the final night (early AM) of our last cruise I found myself out on deck a little after 2AM smoking my last cigar. Sitting out in the harbor with a good smoke and looking at the lights of Vancouver off in the distance as we killed time until we could dock, didn't want it to end. Have had a lot of interesting experiences on cruises like a late night run in on the stern of a ship in Alaska with a ex-Marine. Again into the early hours of the morning swapping stories about his WWII time in the South Pacific and my time in Vietnam as we puffed away and then another time with more BOTL's as we sailed away from Juneau late in the evening. What a sight, so relaxing.
Going to Australia/New Zealand on a cruise early in 2008. Wife picked the geographic area, I picked the cruiseline and the ship. My only requirement was it had to have a Cigar lounge.
