Just watched the season premiere and thought it was awesome. Not sure it's for everyone tho and may not be a big hit. You've got to understand that football in west texas is second only to God. And the pressure put on coaches and players creates what I think is a psychological thriller.

I met H.G. Bissinger, author of the 1990 book, just after his return from living in Midland/Odessa for 2 years while doing research on the Permian Basin Panthers. His son and my son went to school together. If you're looking for a great read, I highly recommend it. And the movie is excellent too.
