A little info on what you like/interests would help for making a recommendation. Any books that you have read and liked and would like something similar? Anything you don't like?

    My wife likes Nora Roberts

Think they are sappy romance novels

A lot of people like the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris, it is the book series that the HBO Series "True Blood" is based on. Don't let the really cheesy covers and titles put you off, the books are far better than they appear.

Good call those were pretty good books.

You could always read the twilight series, i hear the ladies love them.

If you prefer bad ass vampires that actually kill people to ones that sparkle in the sunlight, then the Sookie Stackhouse series is for you. Then again, the Anne Rice books are all pretty decent as well. Not sure how we got into a vampire kick, but alas, here we are.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
The Girl Who Played With Fire.
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest.
The above three are great reads.
Once started you won't want to put them down.
Best read in the above order.
Then you'll want to watch the tree movies, which are outstanding.
Another book you might like: Let The Right One In.
Then the movie (same title) Original version, DVD.
    Not the inferior remake.
40 million plus copies of the first three sold worldwide.
They really are do not miss books.
    Cheers,
    Bob.

Stephen King: Some of his older works like Misery, Salem's Lot, Cujo and my two favorites; The Talisman (with Peter Staub) and IT are just a breeze to read. You can just fly through them before you realize it.

The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy/Dirk Gently books by Douglas Adams are also a blast to read and will definitely keep you going.

+1 on the Peter King books.
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "...holy sh*t what a ride!"
