    The Road

    Hello All,

Just finished reading the road.. Good book, it's a fast read , however a dark and heavy read, I enjoyed it. The relationship between father and son is touching and it does make you contemplate intensely.

I look forward to seeing the movie when it comes out on DVD Viggo Mortensen plays the father. As I read the book I could hear Viggo talking as the father.

I think most of you will like it also.

Written by Cormac McCarthy (no country for old men)

I read the book first then watched the film. Both were fantastic. Once I started the book I could not put it down. Think I read it in two days. lol

The author was really able to convey how desperate the survivors were and how bleak the environment was. The film also was amazing and I thought did the book justice.

It was okay. The writing style was very strange to me. Storyline was good but I agree very bleak. Suprised by the ending, very feel good.

I'm a big fan of post apocalyptic fiction and I loved "The Road." The only down side to it is that it is so depressing you almost catch yourself tie a noose while reading it. It probably won't make the Oprah book club.

I liked the story and the premise, but I agree the writing style was odd...especially the conversations between the father and the boy. All in all a good read though!

Just finished the book too. Its a depressing read, but one people need to read. McCarthy's writing stile did throw me off a little, but I got used to it.
