Camacho 10th Anniversary commercial contest cancelled

Camacho Cigars has cancelled the 10th Anniversary Commercial contest due to lack of entries. The contest for a 30 or 60 second homemade commercial was announced on March 26th, 2008 and was set to end on May 10th 2008. The grand prize winner would have taken home a check for $2,500 after their submission had been chosen.

“We are deeply saddened by the lackluster response to this contest. We thought this would be a simple and fun contest for cigar smokers to team up, make some goofy homemade commercials, and win some cash. Everything is a learning experience and we have definitely learned from this one… Our apologies to all that did participate and submit their entries. ” - Dylan Austin, Camacho Cigars

That's too bad. I know it can be hard to get consumer's involved in somehting like this. However, I really feel bad for those who did participate and too the time to send something in. I hope they get something for their efforts!!!

Video is tough. I'm not a stupid guy by any means, even though I admit I'm not the most tech savvy guy around either. But every time I try video, there's always some kind of problem with uploading and converting the video that frustrates me. Taking video is tough enough- especially trying to make something entertaining. But then trying to get the video into the computer, converting, editing, posting- something always goes wrong for me.

I agree, I thought about doing a simple slideshow of pictures of people smoking Camacho cigars, but didn't think it would be worth the time if other people would be making live video.

Not everyone has the resources to get a video camera, convert the video, spend time editing, convert to an uploadable format etc. Granted, a cell phone might have done the job, but nobody would think a cell phone video would win.

I guess in the age of you-tube and everyone uploading video's you'd think more people would be interested in this.

Hopefully this doesn't cast a shadow over the relationship between CigarLive and Camacho Cigars! We love Camacho and want to continue having a great friendship!

Haha, that's the part that p*sses me off the most, is the fact that there are kids all over the place posting up videos and I can't seem to get past the fact that Windows Explorer on my computer crashes every time it sees a video file. (It thinks DLL is corrupted or something), so I can't even move the file to my comptuer.

Well I guess I'll just smoke a Camacho tomorrow at the B&M instead of filming a video.

Bummer too. I was looking forward to having something fun to edit for a change. I might end up filming it anyway in the next week or so... we'll see.
