Yep, it's a done deal. Very surprised to see Christian and his father sell off their family legacy. Goes to show ya, everyone has a price.

I'm on their mailing list and got an e-mail regarding the sale. I was pretty surprised to read about it. My only real concern is the same as that of SmoknTaz:

so does that mean Camacho's will be priced out of reach for the average smoker?
Davidoff has the rep of being a producer of high priced cigars, and I'd hate to see my favorite Camacho's getting jacked up to the point where I could only afford them for special occasions.

I wonder if they'll change the name of the "Camacho Cigar Bar" at Comerica Park to "Davidoff Cigar Bar" or something similar.

wow, very interesting.

edit:

“It offers us a platform so we can grow a lot more aggressively,” he said. “We thought it was the right opportunity to be able to perpetuate the life of our brand. Now Camacho will become one of the top ten brands in the world.”

I don't care for Davidoff. Not because the cigars are bad - but because their cigars are not GREAT. They continually get ratings of 86-88 - yet they charge as if their cigars are rated 100. They charge way too much for what you get.
Anyway too bad Camacho was acquired by Davidoff.

With the route I would have taken maybe not--

Now back to the thread--Davidoff makes some good smokes but like a few have stated nothing worth the $$$$ - I could list many that are just as good and less expensive---

I agree with Bill on this one--there are many smokes well worth the $$$ and to me Davidoff are a bit pricey!

I agree. I have taken a pass on Davidoff's for the same reasons Bill pointed out. There are boxes of great sticks out there that I'd rather smoke at an 1/8 of the price. I do like Camacho's and I hope they leave the brand alone and don't ruin it with high prices and poor taste.

What better way to make some quick cash with a quick sale of your entire line of Camacho cigars??!! At least Christian still has his farms, which could amount to even more money. Heck, why not start another company under a new name?? Good luck in the future Camacho/Davidoff!!!!

Basically, Camacho will be left alone, Davidoff wants access to their Corojo wrappers.

spoke with a Cigar Aficionado who said "they have always had a problem with their quality" and I would agree after this one.

The roll came loose on a few different spots including towards the middle and the cap. I kept having to lick to get it to stick.

Hope they hire some better ro//ers!

I would have to totally disagree with you on this one! I bought a box of the Camacho Select Robustos a while back. I think it is one of the better Cameroons out on the market. I didn't have a burn or any other kind of issue with any of the sticks. And man these babies with some age on them, wow what a tasty smoke!

If you looking for something with a kick this is not it, but I think they are very good smokes.

You should give another a try, maybe let it sit in your humi awhile, before just saying its a bad stick.
