I want to completely plaster a bass guitar with Camacho cigar bands, and I need your help. I did a mock-up in Photoshop to illustrate what I hope to do:
http://api.ning.com/files/Mw*9VO4lhC...648&height=486 There's no way I'll ever be able to smoke that many Diplomas, Triple Maduros, and 10th Anni Corojos. That's where my Camacho-smoking BOTLS come in: I need your bands, once your done smoking the cigar. Or, you could send the bands with the cigars in them as well, I'm not picky ;-) Thanks for your help.

Shoot, thought I had more. Well, about 30 labels heading your way soon. Looks like a cool project.

Ratters, thanks for the labels and the SLR and Corojo. You're a BOTL and a scholar.

What technique? is that like Decopage or something? I take it you glue them on somehow and apply a finish?

technique
Gluing and finishing, yes. I have to scuff up the finish on the bass first, then glue the bands on, and then press the snot out of the whole face for some time. Then, liberal coats of polyurethane.
An acquaintance at Social Cigar did a guitar with Drew Estates labels, and it looked pretty cool. So I'm copping the idea for a Camacho Bass. I wish I had the $$ to smoke all the Triple Maduro, Liberty, and 10th Anni Corojos for the project, but alas, 'tis not so.

If you were to glue them with a slow setting glue and put it in a vacuum bag, the labels would go down as flat as possible. I don't have the gars but I can tell you where to find the vac bag equipment if you're interested.

I have a shopvac, duct tape and some 2 mil plastic drop cloth. Would that work?
Otherwise, I was planning on covering it with a little plastic, a thin layer of foam, then setting a pine chest on top of it to gently press the labels.

If you are going to go through all that trouble you ought to do it right. William can point you in the right direction as he does beautiful wood working and he has posted some pics using that plastic vacuum bag.
