Anyone have inside info on Rental Cars?
Trying to see if anyone has any info I could use for renting cars. As many of you know, I'll be heading to S. Louisiana for Christmas and was originally planning to use my dad's truck to transport when I purchased the tickets. Well, long story short, I don't think it's going to be practical now. I know you can get a Plane Ticket + rental car deal, but that's out now. Can anyone hook a broth. up?

Try priceline or travelocity or orbitz. They have some great deals.

Do you guys have a car rental joint right off base? Usually they will cut deals for Military.

If you dont care about driving a 'clunker' and all you want to do is minimize your cost, DONT go with the big names like hertz, avis, budget etc....

Look up online small rental car companies in your area... usually they rent cars that have salvage title etc for a fraction of the cost of a 'nice' car from one of the big chain guys.

You can usually score a hell of a deal if you search around for discount or corporate codes for vairous rental companies online. There are a lot of corporate codes online that will get you great rates when you plug them in to the reservation systems online. There are long lists of them and it usually takes a little time plugging them in to see which ones will get you the best deal, but it is definitly worth it. I know there are dedicated threads on this at fatwallet and flyertalk. I've done this in the past a couple of times for trips and saved a fortune.
