This car has two Nitrous bottles....etc.

My cousin and I had the same Automechanics teacher in high school. His older brother had the same teacher.

His brother had put a 396 that had been punched to about 425 ci. in a 58 Chevy two dr. It had 11 inch slicks and a pontiac 411 rear. I saw that (58 chevy) car take a 442 Road Runner for a case of beer. The 442 spun a bearing and was left sitting in the road.

Well abilitiy is questionable time is not. I have nothing but time. I would like to have it done by the time my 11 year old goes to his senior prom. So five or six years.

Re: Anyone into old cars

If the choices are between Motorcycle or Car, I vote CAR (Muscle Car).

However, it is my duty as a classic truck enthusiast to suggest a classic pick-up. I just sold my 66 Chevy C-10, and I want another badly. Cost of restoration is won't break the bank as half of the body is bed, and just like muscle cars, they are a blast to drive and cruise in. I had a Mustang that my Dad drives now, and IMHO my 66 pick-up was more fun to drive. I kept my truck in the "Rat Rod" phase, so I didn't have to worry about throwing something in the back, but got plenty of looks and thumbs up even with the rattle can primer paint scheme. Just thowing that idea out there to you, may fit with your budget, but I suggest you get something you want, it will make the whole process a lot more fun. To tell you how I drove mine, in the 5 years I had my truck, I put two NEW set of tires on it, and not because of dry rot.

YOUse got plenty of time then...!! Also thanks for the comment on the car....

You could also go with a 1965 Short bed Chevy truck or the Ford counterpart!!....But you might have to count UR parts on the Ford...as I hear they are Found On the Road DEAD!!

U could also try the old pushbutton Chrysler Hemi....looked funny wit all those fins...but...push a button and the HEMI roared!!

A Duster, A charger, Challenger? I know a fella with a Cuda!!

She wants a 55 - 57 bel air. Not on my budget.

Any advice on good, old car websites?

Im a bit biased but a 1965-69 Corvair are great little cars. Easy to work on and the very cheap to start with(you can get a very nice one for 4-6 grand. Even the earlies 60-64 are good, but the 65-66 are the best espessially the Corsa model with the 140 or 180 engine. THe 180 is turboed which is very cool but very rare, if oyu can find either a monza or a Corsa with the 140 engine and 3:55 gears, they are a blast!

Well its not hard to do....if 2 16yr old kids can build a 327 in a garage and have it last so far 13 yrs.....you really shouldnt have a problem...and I bet there are plenty of guys here with more than enough info..and Midwest city isnt that far from wichita.......

I got to try to get some pics of our old shop up tomorrow......

You could probably get a good portion of the car done with a few well-planned herfs!

Re: Anyone into old cars

This is my Current vair. No one ever knows what they are which is what makes em cool. Bought it for 4500 4 years ago and have about 2 grand into it to get to the point its at now. My old vair that was totaled by a rear end semi vs me crash had almost 340 hp pushing at the rear wheels and 3:89 gears. Full roll cage and Hiem joint suspension. I loved it, still working on my current car to get to that point, but dont have the access to the shop that i used to when I was 16/17 years old.

My next corvair project will be a V8 Powered one.

You know a friend says a small block is not that hard to do. He had to do a bit of cutting with a torch and make and position motor mounts. A fire wall between the front seats and engine. He did say the bitch heated up the front of the car a bit!!! I don't think I would do that. I would stick with the 180 Turbo if I could find one !!
