The car is a "chick" car (no offense lady's) as far as I am concerned but I do think it is a safe little car, so yes that would make dad happy.

Good news taking the old car and her off our policy saves me about $600 a year. Bad news is the daughter came home last night in tears because the check engine light came on and the right front tire is loosing air. The tire is no problem since it was low on the lot and they just filled it. That will be fixed easy enough. The check engine light sent me into a meltdown this morning no one wanted to see. They gave her a car off the lot to drive while they "service" it. I told them I want a complete diagnostics print out or they can keep the car.

So we will see tomorrow. Dang I do not want to go through this again.

To top it all of today is tax filling day here, so I'm in a "mood" already.

I am betting the check Engine light is something to do with the emissions(catalytic converter). Usually nothing mechanically serious unless it starts flashing.

Yeah, that's almost always what it is. Hopefully that's going to be minor, especially compared to the rest of your story!

Todays "nightmare" update; They called this afternoon and said they (car lot we bought the car from Non-Saturn Dealer) were going to send the car to the local Saturn dealer for repairs since it is under the balance of the factory warranty.

At first I thought that was a good thing, but then I thought Oh God its bigger than they want to fix.

They said it will be a few days so keep the car they gave her yesterday to drive for now. Just not sure what to think right now. Hope its not like the whole tax return situation I am doing tonight.

Ouch - I owe more than I thought, thats going to hurt the cigar budget for a few months

I know how you feel Chas. I had a similar problem with the van we owned until recently. My wife is from Wisconsin and her vehicle there was a 2000 GMC Safari van. For the first year and a half that we were married it was a fair vehicle. But last October the vehicle began its slow, painful death spiral. Over a period of 5 months I had to pump almost 1500 dollars into it to keep it alive. Unfortunately it was of little use since it still kept wanting to not run, plus it had several other maladies and afflictions that required even more maintenance. After almost going insane watching my money go into that rusted out pit (Yes, having to replace a rusted out brake line was also one of my problems), we decided to trade it in. We now have a shiny 2005 Buick LaCrosse. It's not new, but it has low miles and I know I can trust a Buick.

Sounds like a lemon to me. I'd tell them to keep it and go shopping again. Did you look for reviews on those cars? I remember hearing not too long ago (few months ago) Saturns were getting to be a real problem.

Probably best to find another. No need having something that is going to continuously cost money.
