Project: Lustre

So, today was a God-given day. I had the urge to treat myself to 2 things I hadn't had for a while: a good cigar, and washing my neglected Nissan. I haven't used my Altima for anything other than a parts-bin for my Miata, and every once in a while when my Miata's not drivable it gets its juices flowed lol... Anyway, long story short, I've decided I'm going to give that car a well-overdue detail.
I hadn't barely washed the thing in over a year (which is horrible on my part, having owned a detail company...), and it's been sitting collecting tree-sap, bird-poo, and road film, and all other kinds of crap.. So here's the befores: (this is after a heavy scrub)

And here's the result after about 45 minutes of clay-barring with max-grit clay... I usually don't use the gritty stuff, but I'm not worried 'cuz I'm hitting it with the wheel later. Just wanted to clean it a little.

Yay! And tomorrow, maybe I'll start on the roof! (I only did the hood, btw lol)

Progress = 1/30th or so steps away... This is a daunting process, but I still got it I think. lol... Maybe I'll be done by the holiday season...

Thank you! And that's just the prep-work... I've still got at least 2 steps of compounding/polishing and 4 steps of protection to put on it! and i've only done the hood... lol

I'll work for sticks lol! Gotta warn you though. When I was still in business (not arthritis ridden...) I was charging about 30 bucks an hour. Avg detail took about 5-8 hours. That comes out to... about a handful of premiums lol! Had one that took me over 22 hours... lol I like the big SUV's for the reason that it's basically 5 huge flat squares to work on lol. RX-8's are a PITA hahaha

Re: Project: Lustre

Isaac,
For a little while I thought our next car was gonna be an Altima...I took a Altima 3.5 with 6 speed manual.....that car was an absolute blast (except FWD) for about $22K

I was sneaking a glance once in a while at the salesman....he was getting worried a little.....a lot of fun at a decent price with 4 doors.

It was not long after that, we decided that the hearse would be our next vehicle!!!

Re: Project: Lustre

Yeah man... Those 3.5's are nasty! Same 3.5L engine as the 350z... Not bad for a 4dr family grocery getter! I've got a 2.5 with an intake, exhaust, HID's, and it's slammed to the ground lol... Last time I'm ever slamming a car for looks. Sounds friggin sick for a 4cyl, too! I'll get a vid up some day.

Can't wait to see the hearse!
