Anyone ever have this happen?

So, I've contacted Falken as well as Discount Tire Direct as to what to do about this. I just hope they don't ask for a shot of the treads, because they were beyond the wear-markers. Tires only had 10k miles on 'em IF that, but in my mind, there's absolutely NO reason why this should have happened to an otherwise good tire.

It looks like you were rubbing the fender, happened to a buddy of mine with his drag tires. Is your camber way out of spec? I can't imagine 185's being too wide though....that's about the smallest DOT car tire they make.

It looks to me like the tire was the wrong size for the rim. Could have been low air pressure as well, or a combination of the two.

Re: Anyone ever have this happen?

Well the distributor got back to me, said it looked like there was a problem with the beading, and it most likely just took this long for it to go. The camber was out probably by a degree tops, but it was nowhere near the fender lol. I have +40 offset rims. Now when I can afford 15x7 +25 offset, that might be different. Anyway, they're sending me out a new tire, so I just need to save up for 3 more to match lol.

I'm just happy it didnt happen while on the freeway. Someone was lookin out for me that night!

Re: Anyone ever have this happen?

Are the other three on your car the same tire??????????????
If so I'd ask for them ALL to be replaced.

If that one did it the other three could be next!

It does look like what happened to my girls car. She has some idty bidty tires and one was low on air. I told her to go fill it up ASAP before they ruin. That was Saturday; Tuesday I get a call where she is on the side of the road.............. with a flat tire.
(And she looked at me like I had rocks in my mouth when I told her about airing it up a few days prior!!)
Looked similar to that. The weight of the car was on the bead and the rim rubbed it raw.

Being a smaller tire; you wouldn't have far to go to hit the ground.... I run 35s thats a long fall and $300+/each.

Ditto this. If you bought all 4 tires at the same time chances are you got yourself a bad lot as happened to me before. The first one went and the second tire went out about 2 weeks later and after the third one went they replaced every single one of them.

Re: Anyone ever have this happen?

Oh crap, I never thought of this. Well, as it is, my friend gave me 2 of his used tires to get me through until I can match 4 up. I'll contact the company to see what they say about the other 3. About the pressure, I ride my tires at about 32-34psi. A bit more than some people, but I like the handling a lot better. The tire's the right size for my 93 Miata lol.

The tire off the other rear corner looked fine; nothing wrong at all with the bead.

I'm not quite sure how to handle this... I guess I'll e-mail them and see what happens. Thanks you guys! I've got very little experience in dealing with customer service issues, so everything here is appreciated.

I dont think I have seen anything like that before. Do you have contacts in the autocross field? If so, Im looking for 2 315/35-17 junk quality tires to start work on making them fit my '92 Mustang....Id like to get all the banging done before I buy the new tires.......thanks in advance
