Re: Atuomatic or standard shift?

After driving for several years in crowded city bumper to bumper traffic...I'll never own another stick!

Chocolate and Vanilla! LOL!

Re: Atuomatic or standard shift?

That is the downside of a manual. Not a lot of city traffic here.

Re: Atuomatic or standard shift?

Tired of shifting and feeling like I'm on a roller coaster. I have one car standard and the other automatic. The motorcycle doesnt count.

Re: Atuomatic or standard shift?

Give me a stick anytime and all the time.....

1992 Mustang 5.0-cannot imagine a Fox Body without a stick
2003 BMW M5-Somewhat affordable if you want it bad enough
2008 Pontiac G8 GXP-Will go down as one of the great Pontiacs

How do I put a 6 speed in my hearse(when I get it)

Re: Atuomatic or standard shift?

Manual..........

1. A clutch is cheaper than a whole tranny
2. Can't "dump the clutch" in an auto
3. YOU are in control, not a valve or a computer
4. More power to the drivelines

I like the manual. Don't have to sit in to much traffic anymore so that doesn't bother me anymore.

Exaclty... If you can speedshift fast enough you can beat a auto in a good old fashioned drag race.
My buddy has an 2006 Dodge Ram with the Hemi (347cid)auto and I have a 2001 (old body style) with a 318cid manual (both 4X4s). He has a few upgrades as well do I. But when ever he pops off at the mouth about how "bada$$" his rig is and how "there is no replacement to displacement" and we line them up..... well......it really hurts me to show him up infront of his girlfriend........

PS

Great Minds and NAMES think alike! huh Shawn??

Re: Atuomatic or standard shift?

My girlfriend has a 2002 Toyota Echo (clown car) thats an auto. When we go long trips, we take her car. (38+mpg to my 15mpg) Its an auto but has a pedal thats raised off the floor somewhat where the clutch would be and my foot usually rests on it at red lights (habit)..... except for one day I almost shoved it through the floor board trying to disengage the clutch on her automatic car!! She looked at me like I had rocks in my head...

Re: Atuomatic or standard shift?

I recently got a new to me (used) truck for a deal I did not want to pass up. As much as I prefer a stick, this one is an auto. I find it much easier at the boat launch. And for the price of gas when filling up this pig, I really do not care about the ponies. I am sure it will be much nicer this winter with the plow on it as well.
