One here. I still have my 99 BMW 3 series with only 90K on it and still looks like it did when I got it. Runs like new and will keep it til it won't run anymore which may be another 10 years.

An E36. Is it 2dr or 4dr?

I have an E36 M3, it is a 4-door. About the same mileage.

Saving up for a 335i. Havent decided if I want a coupe or sedan yet.

4 door and 5 speed 6 cylinder. This thing is quick and have kept up with all maintenance and you'd swear it didn't have more than 12K on it. I don't like the new models or the design of them. I keep mine garaged and there is no rust or dings. IN the last 3 years I have maybe put 5,000 miles on it,,,maybe. I like having a 4 door as I have done the 2 door before and it sucks because you are constantly having to access the back by going thru the front.

And I thought we were talking BMW Motorcycles. I have a few in my stable. 72 R75/5 (Toaster), 1987 K75T (118K and still runs like a champ), 2007 R1200 GS Adventure.

And yes...I do have a Harley....but I only use it to ride around town once in a while.

I did, twice and each one was a POS where the auto maker went bankrupt. Not to get into a flaming thing here but people buy what they want to buy because they earn their money to buy whatever they want. I buy those things that are built well and will last me a long time without going broke fixing it every 6 months.

This is the reason I bought a BMW because these cars last and you will get tired of them before they stop working. Mine is 10 years old and runs like brand new while my other foreign car is 9 years old and I have only bought tires and a battery for it. All 7 of my other "american" cars had issues every friggin year that I kept them. 2 Fords, 2 Chevys, 1 GMC, 1 Pontiac and 1 Chrysler and I bought them brand new.

Re: Any BMW Lover's out there?

One of my dream cars is an M5 E39 I believe, the last V8. Now I think I would take the G8 GXP over it...for a bit more than the price of a used M5 I could get a new G8 GXP.......I do not believe there is the possibility of having 4 doors and too much HP

Re: Any BMW Lover's out there?

Im currently in the market for a Cert. pre-owned E92 coupe, M-Sport. If not, I will settle for a 135i.

American cars are great an all, but reliability when you start to modify the vehicle is not that great.

Interesting. I've had 5 "American" cars and never had anything done other than tire rotations and oil changes. You might want to check the Quality rankings again. Buick is #1, followed by Lexus. And Cadillac quality is on par with BMW's.

Now, back on topic. BMW's are nice. But, I think if I bought one it'd have to be an M3. The M5 is overrated and priced beyond it's worth, as are many other BMW's (imho).......X5, X6, 1's, Z's......and if I couldn't afford the M3, I'd get the 335i. But damn, the M3 is one unbelievable machine. It had a few down years, but it's definitely back with the new one. The Audi RS5 gives it a good run for its money though, as well as the Cadillac CTS-V. But if I had the choice between the 3, I'd go M3 without a doubt

Cars are one of those things where you buy what you want and it's a personal thing. I know of people who bought American and loved them and it worked out fine for them just as those who bought foreign and loved those as well. I try not to tell people what to buy but rather let them buy what they want because it is their money and right to buy anything they so desire.

As you said about the 3 series,,,I'm sold on them and if mine wasn't running so well I'd consider buying the M 3 myself but this damn car with 90K miles and still looking and running like brand new,,,,it pays for itself every time I get in it as it has been paid off since 2003. Now if I could get a return on my other investments like this car,,,,,

Re: Any BMW Lover's out there?

Anyone see the hour program on t.v. I think called the worlds greatest factories, where you see the 6 cyl. bmw engine made, piece by piece. I think they were building it for the z24 model. At least I know it was a 2 seater, but this engine is a mainstay bmw product. Very interesting. Also the way they showed the paint process was amazing., even though bmw is not known for superior paint in thier automobiles.
Great program if you ever cartch. I am baby sittin my sons bmw at the moment while he is overseas. Its a bmw x6. I dont drive it, except once a week round the block to keep the tires from getting soft spots, and to keep the juices circulated, battery charged, etc.
I wash it and wax it, which I never do to my own vehicles. I like the rugged dirty look. lOL

Much regards Jerry

Fellow BMW lover here!! I have a red 2009 335i coupe. It's a lot of fun to drive. Actually, it's a lot of fun to drive it to the bar and have a few cigars
