My Humidor Upgrade

So I just upgraded my small 50 count humidor with a huge Treasure Dome humidor (huge compared to my small humi at least!).

Problem is, I opened it to find the bag of Dessicant Silica Gel Beads completely open and the beads are everywhere. I was able to get them out of the bottom but the lid has slots on the inside that are supposed to help circulate the humidity. The inner part of the lid does not come off, and shaking the humidor is tiring me out. I got most of the beads out but I can hear a bunch of them still stuck up there.

How harmful would it be if I kept the beads up there? They look exactly like humidity beads except they are amber colored. Any help or suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

BTW This humidor is unbelievably beautiful and kicks a**!

Re: My Humidor Upgrade

Humidity beads are silica gel infused with a particular salt that causes it to absorb and release water to regulate humidity. Regular silica gel just aborbs water. You got nothing to worry about once they absorb their water.

Re: My Humidor Upgrade

Thanks for the quick responses! They all came out except for what sounds like one sole survivor left in the lid. Oh well.

As for pics, I left my camera at work but I'll post some pictures soon. Now I gotta think about what cigars I want to fill it up with .

Re: My Humidor Upgrade

It's been a while but I was finally able to find some time to take some pics. The first one is the inside of my first 50 count humidor. The second picture is my collection as of now. Finally the third is my new humidor next to my old one. It sure is a big boy.
