Replacing Foam w/Beads

After doing alot of reading here, I placed an order for humi-beads from Cigarmony. My plan is to open up the humidification device in my desktop humidor and replace the charcol sponge thingy (that's the technical term, right? charcol sponge thingy) with 65% rH beads.

My question: how do I get the humidification device open. I have a Zino humidor and the huni unit is one of those long rectangular ones. It looks like the back should pop off, but I don't want to break the plastic case if there's a trick to doing it. I'm thinking an eyeglass screwdriver would be small enough to do it, but thought I'd pick the braintrust here first for advice.

HELP! (and thanks)

Be careful ... that's the only trick I can think of. I think I used a tiny screwdriver, too, FWIW.

I know that DragonMan (Nick) has successfully done this. Shoot him a PM.

I used a pocket knife for mine, screwdriver would work well. I think there are a few different models out there so hard to say for sure.

Re: Replacing Foam w/Beads

I'd use a razor blade first (if there is any glue) before trying to pry it open...

There are good instructions on this topic on the Heartfelt Industries site also.

Re: Replacing Foam w/Beads

The Zino humidifier is easy to get apart with the tiny screwdriver Just pry a little bit in different sections at a time.

I hope this helps

Re: Replacing Foam w/Beads

I was able to pry all mine open with putty knife, I'm sure a small pocket knife or screw driver would also work. Remember to pry a little all the way around and not try to only pry from one spot.

Re: Replacing Foam w/Beads

I've done this with a few pucks. just slip a small thin screwdriver between the two plastic pieces and wiggle!

The real issue you might have is spilling your beads! At some point during your experimentation, you are going to tip the container over and your beads will just go everywhere!

We in the Jungle love stories like that!
