My quest for an Otterbox (or, how to get screwed by an online retailer)

A few days ago I decided to purchase an Otterbox, so after searching eBay I discover a great little 15-count case with a carrying handle and everything. I buy it. Great! In fact, here it is:

This week, I get a package. I open it. It looks nothing like the picture. In fact, it's a regular 15-count Cigar Caddy with no handle. It looks like this:

So I send an email to the retailer voicing my concern that they might have shipped me the wrong model, and I get this snotty and badly-written reply back:

Quote:
The otterbox caddy's do not have a handle on them. None of them come with this feature. The only thing they come with is with a latch that keeps them air tight and waterproof. In the picture and description what you see is the latch not a handle.

Okay that's well and good... so why the f**k do you have a totally different product listed on eBay and on your website?!? And how dare you say I'm a liar, when my own two eyes can clearly see a f***ing handle?!? Don't list an item for sale with completely the wrong picture, and don't tell me I'm wrong!! Grrrrr.

So anyway, I've demanded a refund and I will never shop at [SIZE="7"]

Gee that's a pity; certainly a bummer that the item the seller shipped was not the same as depicted in the photograph.

I've been quite happy with caseclub.com they have a wide selection of pelikan cases and fair prices.

Sorry for your trouble, at least you didn't buy a box of an x-box 360. There are members of this board that sell all this stuff and sell you what you are looking for but it may be a few bucks more than the cheapest.

Mine has a handle. Won it on CBid, and forget the make, but can check.

I would like it considerable less if it didn't have a handle.

Let me say it again... I would like mine considerably LESS if it DID NOT have a handle.

I like walking with it swinging between my index and ring fingers as I joyfully walk somewhere to herf it up.

Like Romeo & Juliet, except at the end everyone dances to Rick Astley and eats lots of cake!

Thats a bummer, it's definitely not the one you ordered.

If its any consolation, I have one that looks just like the one you recieved. Mine has three foam inserts. I've drug it around, dropped it more than a few times, and the stogies and box always survive. I've had mine a couple years use it often.

If I ever get another one, it will have a pressure release valve as mine has a mark where I had to pry it open after it was pressurized in an airplane.

Re: My quest for an Otterbox (or, how to get screwed by an online retailer)

I contacted this seller months ago about using the pic of the discontinued 24-count when selling the 10 and 15-counts. I guess they know they're conning people and don't care.

I got lucky and found a used 24-count because I wanted the handle and release valve.

conning people on e-bay, will free market ever have any scruples. A sucker is born every minute, sorry couldn't resist I don't spend the time looking for that bargain any more, to much chance of getting screwed by slight changes in name, pics, etc. I much rather give money to those that I know do good business and stand behind the product, in the long run I feel it pays off.

It rarely pays to buy anything from the very least expensive source. There are bargains and then there is cheap merchandise - not the same.
