rH beads a kinda yellow color

I have them in a glass cigar tubes one in each humi since the slope has been slow for me w/ school and everything and they seem to be working out ok. I was looking at them and one had white beads and the other had some Distilled water in the bottom of them and it seem to turn it yellow is that cool or is there a problem there? my humis are 2 20-25 ct. I had them in a puck thingy but it seem to dry out quicker then these tubes.

It's from taking on the things that come off cigars.

Re: rH beads a kinda yellow color

Like other silica gels, the beads are capable of adsorbing small quantities of organic volatiles. However, these compounds are not fixed irreversibly but can be released again when the beads are adsorbing additional moisture.

Here is another thread with more input.

Standing water, water not absorbed, in a bead container will add a bad taste to the cigars. I had this happen in one of my smaller humi's with a converted puck. I haven't had any turn yellow on me before.

Most of mine turned yellow over time...they still work fine.

Re: rH beads a kinda yellow color

Mine have turned yellow over time as well. I figured it was either normal aging or they were threatened by a cigar once.

Re: rH beads a kinda yellow color

I opened a tube yesterday because I saw some dark spots in the beads. Some of them had some black (maybe dark green) stuff on them. I didn't look closely but I'm guessing it was mold. So, I threw those beads out and put some fresh ones in the tube.
