The Group Buy didn't get enough interest. He was kind enough to still do the deal. I went with his case with the 8 trays. I am going to get a Puck from Mark @ Cigarmony. I would like to get one of the perfecto shaped hygros too.

Re: Help with new humidor... (a.k.a. Wow, this slope IS slippery!)
Got the 1300 and the beads! Pics coming soon...
Argh, when I was moving some stuff around to the new box to try it out, I noticed some of the feet on my Gurkha Puros looked "expanded." The base is flared-out a bit on one and there's about a 1/2" tear up the side of it. A box-pressed Legend on the shelf below felt a bit more spongy than springy, but the foot looked fine...could've been on the "almost too much" end of things with the flat parts of the wrapper compressing different than a cylinder and making it seem more spongy than it was. These were in an Armored Humidor Systems (basically Pelican 1150) case with 7 other cigars and 2 69% Boveda packs. Never really had this happen before...could it be the cigar or the temperature? The humidity in the air hasn't gone above 69% yet this year (come on, it's April and it's friggin' North Dakota ), but I suppose there could be some decent temp fluctuations going on in the house.I'm questioning the 70% beads I got for my storage case...or could it be a temp issue? Do I need to start looking for a coolerdor? A Vinotemp? <slip> Whoops! ![]() |

If you're able to keep your home pretty steady temp wise, I would just get a cooler. If temp is a problem, definitely go with the Vinotemp.
Looking forward to the pics.

I got them in a closet for now, we'll see what happens over the next few days.Guess that means I'll have to toast the Fuente (oh yeah, an addendum to the above, it was a Fuente and not a Puro). |
