Question How does your humi lid shut?

Curious to know what happens when you let your humi lid just drop from an inch or two. How hard or soft does it close?

Mine seems to be a little harder than I think it should be and I'm kinda worried about the seal I'm getting.

Re: How does your humi lid shut?

If it doesn't have a glass top you can use the flashlight test to see if the seal has any leaks. I don't know if you have tried that but turn a flashlight on and put it in the humi and close the lid. Then go into a dark room. If you see light, then you have a leaky humi.

The lid on my desktops always wooshes to a close when dropped and never slams.

Hope that helps.

If its not holding humidity well, head to a hardware store and get some weather stripping tape.

Mine is a door

It sounds like yours has a bad seal, definitely check the seal with the flashlight or dollar bill test.

stick a dollar bill in the opening then close it, the dollar shouldnt be too easy to pull out.

Re: How does your humi lid shut?

mine closes faster than I would think it would as well, but it it holds a rock solid 65%.

don't be too worried about it if it is holding humidity.

I got the beads a few weeks ago, and it has never been out of the 63-66 range. It usually is at 64 or 65

If it stays constant and humid, that is all you need. Better to store on the drier side, especially in the summer. Most summers I did not use any element in a full desktop humidor and they stayed fine. As long as you can break 60% humidity, I would not worry about it too much.

Re: How does your humi lid shut?

Thanks Fella's. It seems to be holding okay, although lately the rh has dropped. I actually haven't had to even have any humidification in there in months but with the higher temps now and running the A/C I'm thinking that maybe that is where my drop is coming from. Funny how the boogeyman always seems to be lurking around. I'll chalk it up to inexperience.
