for a end table type humidor. My brother-in-law loves to build stuff and is very good at it. I ask him if he would build me a humidor and he agreed. So what I need from you guys is a wish list of what it should include. Things you have found that would be nice to have in a humi. For example, I want a thin drawer on top for accessories. I want a receptacle on the inside if I want to use an Oasis or some soft lights. I'm not looking for bulk storage so we can use the entire space.
What would you want in yours if you could have it made from scratch? Thanks in advance. Al |

A few places to look for ideas:
http://www.cigar-humidors.com/end_table_humidor.html http://www.cigarhumidorstore.com/dar...le-humidor.htm Built in drawer so you can use the laptop to surf CS and drool on your loot at the same time. Definitly post pics of the project. I'm sure it will have RH issues. We can provide product that will help out.

1. Glass top to see my premium smokes in the top drawer.
2. Glass paneled door to see all of my boxes. 3. 2 drawers for singles with full extension slides. 4. 3 shelves for boxes, also with full extension slides. 5. Some kind of subtle lighting in the main box area. 6. Electrical outlet for active humidification device. 7. Peltier Thermoelectric coolers with temp control 8. Built in fans for air circulation 9. Hot chick that pops out and brings you a smoke right when you want it (clothing optional of course!) |

UV lights... love -'em (Beware that putting in lights may require a cooling unit. Even the cold cathode tube lights get warm.

Re: I want ideas
End table humidor, Al? You KNOW that will not be big enough.....Go with a 10x10 Walk-in brother. Your brother-in-law never said how big you could go, so roll with it.

Re: I want ideas
What I want basically is one with a top drawer not included in the humi section for cutter, cigar book (thanks Fox) matches and STUFF.
Then under that the actual humi section I want drawers that are only deep enough for one layer of cigars. I want as many of these drawers as will fit. Not a glass door fan unless it is some cool idea as to why. No box storage. If I ever get to the point of buying boxes I will put them in a cooler. Anyway, I like the ideas and keep them coming please. How about you Mr. Shilala, any bling/cool sh!t ideas from you? Thanks, Al |

Re: I want ideas
Al, I would recommend not putting lights in it. While its a nice touch, its not so nice on cigars. The lights will raise temperature drastically. I work at a BM and we have lights in the Uprights/Cabinets that we only turn on for special events because they raise temp 5-15F in a matter of a couple hours and then we have to shut them off.
I will be watching this closely because I am about to build a cabinet. Good luck! |

Re: I want ideas
I've seen the low wattage halogen lights (they generate a lot of heat).... what do these UV lights look like?
Any pictures / links?

Electronic humidity control- I have it on my Aristocrat and it works like a charm. Not sure what brand it is, but someone else will know here.
Slide out Draws- Makes it easier to get at cigars in the back as well making it easy to stack boxes efficiently. Locking front door- you may not have a need for it now, but you could years from now and you’re SOL if you don’t do it initially. Non-humidified draw– for cigar tools, dry boxing cigars, etc… In general, make it twice as big as you think you'll need; they fill up quick.

Re: I want ideas
Ya, I got a comment.
You don't want a receptacle inside. A power brick for a hydra makes an insane amount of heat when stuck in a confined space. You're humi would be 95 degrees all the time. You also want to power lights from outside. LED's would be best, damn near zero heat. I'd also want some way to cool the humi. That's why I'd like a winador. ![]() If I was making an end table humidor it'd have a recessed glass top with green felt underneath and the whole display area would slide out on telescoping glides. Then there would be 2 1/2" deep by 8" wide drawers three across and about five deep beneath that, then a small amount of storage space for boxes. It'd be the most awesome humi ever. ![]()

Re: I want ideas
Here's the pic, Al...
On top is the glass. Beneath the glass is a sliding tray. Beneath that is the door section that contains the singles drawers. Beneath that is space for boxes. The door closes in that humidified section and then you could have one wide junk drawer or two or three small ones beneath the humidified section. It'd be easy to build but it'd take lots of time.
