Like others have said, send it to Xikar and they will hook you up. Great customer service! If you have not already done so, register it on the website linked by Doug (Dux) first. They will also send you a leather sheath for it.

edit: One more thing...if you see a local Xikar rep...I would NOT recommend going through him/her. I tried that and it took our rep over 6 months to work things out. Go straight to the source.

But you won't be disappointed with their customer service if you contact them.
I literally spent an hour doing that the other night and the damn thing would go back together. I'm certain theres a trick to making it work.

Xikar, any chance you'd be willing to share this with me and save me a trip to the PO?

I think the guy at the shop I bought from sold me a demo model because the little screw that you slide up and down was canted and the blades never came together in sync.

He said it was the "only one I have in the silver color, I found back in the storeroom with the other cutters"

What should I do?
Send it back. Lifetime Warranty. They'll probably just send you a new one.

Took it too my shop I bought it from. They gladly exchanged it and thanked me for buying Xikar products.

Re: Dropped my Xikar

I am glad things worked out for you. IMHO this is a design flaw. Mine did the exact same thing a couple years ago. I was reaching for it on my desk which is 30" high and it fell on the floor and flew a part. I finally got it back together but ordered a Palio shortley after and never looked back.

It should not break with a short 30" fall. To me that is to fragile with any cigar cutter. I have heard this same story many times on cigar forums about these cutters.

Get a Palio and you will be happy and not feel like you have to handle it like you are handling a egg that is going to break if you are not careful.

Re: Dropped my Xikar

Although I agree you about the design of these cutters, the company's commitment to correcting or replacing this separates them from alot of companies in this business.

I was kinda pissed I was going to have to envelope up and mail something and wait, and cut cigars with a old one blade piece of junk in the meantime. Turns out I can take it too my B&M and drop it off their (even outside of their 30 day return)

It really is too bad that Palios aren't seen anywhere. They're great cutters, just don't find em many places.

Yah, but cmon...I'm a B&M nut. I love the act of acquiring fine cigar goods. I'm too impatient to wait for stuff in the mail Considering I live less than 5 miles from an assortment of tobacco shops, I enjoy getting out to them on a regular basis.

Re: Dropped my Xikar

Everyone,

I would just like you to know that we stand behind everything with the XIKAR name. Therefore things like dropping are completely covered.

We are constantly making improvements to our designs & production to ensure that this type of thing doesn't happen.

As always, your quickest bet is to exchange at your local retailer. We are always there as a backup to that.

Last, the cutters are assembled with the help of a jig, so without that, they are VERY difficult to put back together alone.

Thanks,
Andy

Tell me 'bout it.. dropped mine one night while working at a concert (couldn't leave my post) and since I didn't have any backup I just had to put it back together.. took a while but it's back in full working order.

The first time one came apart it was because the screw undid itself, and that one got replaced promptly (thanks to Dave at Heartfelt ) since I couldn't get it right that time.

Xikar has a great guarantee and stand behind their products, that's for sure.
(but nowadays I check the screw once in a while to make sure it doesn't come undone )

/Pac
