keeping my humi up

This is a discussion on keeping my humi up within the Cigar Accessory Discussion forums, part of the The Cigar Lounges at Puff category; well im new to all this but right now im having trouble keeping my humidor between 70 and 75% humidity ...

keeping my humi up

well im new to all this but right now im having trouble keeping my humidor between 70 and 75% humidity it seems to want to hover at 60 - 65%. it probably holds about 30-40 sticks i have a jar of crystals humidifying it. any ideas?

It could be a number of things. The humidity of the crystals may not be set to reach that high or your sticks are on the dryer side and absorbing the excess humidity.

I'm with Darrell the crystals probably won't let it go that high and the cigars are soaking up all the humidity. PG crystals are set to maintain 70%. If you want to give your humi a little boost consider tossing a boveda pack in there to supplement the jar.

.. i think you need a prescription for that stuff

Personally i love Boveda packs... you can never have to many though.. so keep that in mind, to many is better then not enough

thanks for the advice im stoping by the shop today to pick up a few new smokes i might just grap one of the boveda packs as well. I'll let you know how it turns out

Most would RATHER store them at 60-65%...I say keep doing what you are doing.....really cuts down the chance of mold issues.

my discovery after going to the local shop was that my hygrometer was a pile of junk. He hooked me up with a cheap analog that works for free untill they get some more digitals in. im hovering around 70.
