Bead stabilization time

I ordered a 4 ounce tube from Heartfelt. I was planning on opening the tube and dividing the beads between my two humis. The external dimensions are: 16.25" x 9.25" x 6.5".
I seasoned the humidor for 3 days and had a steady 85%.
I let it rest for 2 days and put my sticks in.
Its been 4 days and my humidity level is still 71%, but can go as high as 75.
The beads were first put in with 5 spritzes of distilled water.
Yesterday I looked and most (80%) of the beads were still white. I know things take time, but when will the humidity go down to 65%?
I had a Fonseca Habana selection yesterday the had a bad burn.
I contributed it to the high humidity level.
I am just concerned that the level is no where near the 65% especially with more then double the amount of beads I should be using.
I am using one of Davids Digital Hygromiters that is calibrated (salt test) .
The tube is in the middle on the bottom of the humi. I have 38 stcks in there, some with celo (25) and some not.
The oldest sticks are a couple of months old at the latest. Some are as new as two weeks.

Re: Bead stabilization time

I would say it's still stabilizing, give it some more time and it will come down to 65%. I usually season my humis for 1 week, till my reading was 75%. Patience and it will happen.

Dry your beads completly and leave your humidor open for a few hours.

Re: Bead stabilization time

I would let the humi season for a bit longer. I made this mistake and ended up reseasoning it a few months later. The beads will soak up the extra water until they are saturated. Once you fell they are saturated put them in the oven at 170 degrees until there white and repeat.

I thought it was seasoned at the time. It held 85% for 3 days with distilled water in a bowl. Once I removed the bowl it stayed at 80.
I then left the lid open overnight and then checked humidity. It was at 70. That's when I put the beads in and sticks.

Actually 85% is kind of high even for seasoning, with the humidor at 80% with out the bowl, your cigars probably soaked up a lot of excess moisture. I would take out he sticks and put them in zip locks and let the humi sit open for a while, and then let it stabilize with the beads in it without the sticks. Once it stabilizes at the bead humidity, you can put the sticks back in.
Also, make sure that you only spray 60%- 70% of the beads. The rest should remain dry.

That's pretty much what I had to do...I have a cigar jar and for some reason the humidity was really high..I had to take out my sticks and make sure things leveled out before I try to put anything back in there.
