So my RH was at 61% and I couldnt get it to go up. So I put some hot distilled water in a tupperware in the humi over night. woke up and it was at 77%. I took the water out, and closed it back up, and left the sticks in there. Hopefully it will drop during the day. Will this negatively affect the sticks? I wont be home until 8 or 9 pm to check again.

Your sticks should be fine. In the future I would raise the humidity slowly.
61% is not that bad and the only problem with 77% is the possibility of the cigars swelling but short term like it was should be fine. Use cold distilled water in the future and don't try to build Rome in a day

I think I'd prefer 61% over 77%, but what's done is done at this point. They'll be ok for short term I'm sure. You might want to open the lid for an hour or so to let some of the excess humidity dissipate when you get home.

Cheers!!
Steve

they should drop to a nice 71 or so by tonight, without touching them. ive done that excact thing with my coleman-adoor, it was 61%, bumped to 80. once the extra water was taken out the 80 fell to 71 and stayed there

As others stated, you should be fine. If you kept it at 77% for a few days, splitsville could be in your future. Personally? I'd keep it at 61%. . .

You never want to put your cigars through a humidity swing as large as 16% in one day. A cigar can take around 3 weeks for the moisture to safely reach the center and equalize throughout without any damage.

Buy some 65% or 70% beads and you won't have to worry about it.
As already stated, large swings in humidity like that are bad for your cigars.
