Cigar Caddy closure

So I close the lid, I hear the whoosh every time. It feels cooler inside, thanks to the Boveda packet.

Yet, when I close the lid, and the bottom edge of the lid meets the top edge of the box, it appears uneven; there's a slight gap. In the gap, it feels like plastic, so it must still be sealed?

I'm not too worried, I think it's because of one of my larger cigars, and maybe because I have a small cutter and extra Boveda behind the top foam padding.

My question is, can I fix this? The Caddy closes and locks when I hold it down and latch it, but I'm a little concerned nonetheless.

What do you all think?

Drown it. If it leaks, its screwed.

Chances are the seal is good, not really much problem if the caddy is of good quality from a repected name (Xikar, herf-a-dor etc). I think you need to order a digital hygro and find out how well the box is holding humidity, also consider ordering some beads and a small wooden humi and setting yourself up right

I have a whole list of reasons why I went the plastic route instead of wood for now. Suffice to say space and mobility are my biggest factors being in college. Someday soon, but not now.

I won't worry though, it seems to be doing all right otherwise; I'll grab a hygro when I can.

They are supposed to be air/water-tight. Mine will float. As long as the cigars are smoking ok I see no problem except for the limited space.

I bet it will float but am not sure what that has to do with anything. If you are worried about it leaking I would think you could close it and then hold it under the water for a minute. Then take it out of the water and open it to see if any water leaked in. Again I would suggest you take the cigars out before this test.

Mental note: jacarlton has likely killed someone by means of drowning. Either that or he's just come up with an alternative to 'waterboarding' torture for Caddy's.

If this is a Cigar Caddy brand, don't mess with it. Call the company HQ in Ft. Collins, CO and I'd bet they'll replace it no questions asked. Jamie, aka Cigar Caddy on CS, is the owner and his people will take care of you. The warranty is great.

LOL well I wasn't serious, I just thought it'd be durable enough to float My cigars went from being room-temp to being cool, so I assume the Boveda's handling things for me just fine.

It wooshes closed, sounds all right, so I'm just letting it be.

My new worry is that my 69% Boveda is making things too moist, and I fear the smokes will now split when heated...damn you, paranoia!

I try to open the humi three times a day, just for a sec to admire the contents lol

Why are the cigars cooler in the Cigar Cady. The Cigar Caddy is made of thin plastic, and the Bovida packs don't controll Temperature, do they? So why are the cigars cooler inside the Caddy, and what does that have to do with the seal, am I missinig something.

Ya know...it doesn't make sense, does it? I don't know if the pack is really even helping, I just stuck it along the side of the trays like I've seen in pictures, and closed the lid.

It's warm in my room, but every time I open the Caddy, it's cooler. The cigars (thanks again ) seem cool to the touch, and feel/smell fresh like they should.

You're right though, temperature and humidity are two different things. I think maybe the packet benefits the moistness, and the airtight Caddy keeps the temperature level and even; does that seem more feasible perhaps?

Science is not this writer's strong suit.
