Oust Fan substitutes or alternates???

For those of us who are just now or will be going the Coolerdor, etc route and with Oust fans no longer being produced and harder to find; what is the group consensus for a fan alternate?

I am thinking the most viable would be a computer case fan. But I am not sure how to wire this... AC or DC?

Would there be a cheap, easy way to have it cycle ON/OFF like an Oust fan?

Duane

Re: Oust Fan substitutes or alternates???

I dont think that a fan in necessary in a cooler. Most use fans in their Vinotemps as the heat sink will pull moisture out and it can lead to condensation. As long as you open the cooler about once a week you should be fine. I have two fans in each of my Vino's but none in my 50qt cooler.

Here's one alternative, but a bit larger measures 6 1/2"L x 3"D x 7 1/2"H.

I put mine wherever they fit in the Vino. Same with my beads. But I dont have high RH out here. I think Shilala said he has his pointed directly at the heat sink. CFM's dont really matter, you just want a bit more circulation than the regular fan gives. Been working fine for me for last 10 months.

Even if you don't it will be fine too. Less air exchange = better aging.
