Question about keeping the humi cool in the summer

Im sure a lot of people dont jack up their AC in the summer, because they want to keep the electric bill somewhat reasonable.

I was wondering, can you put ice cubes made from distilled water in shot glasses in the humi? as they melt, it would cool down the inside of the humidor and help maintain humidity.

Has anyone done that?

Re: Question about keeping the humi cool in the summer

No, I haven't done that because my basement stays cool in the summer. But I did think of this. Put your humidor in a large cooler and use ice filled ziplock bags. Since it is in a cooler the ice would last much longer and since it is in ziplock bags you wouldn't need to worry about the jump in humidity. Maybe also wrap the ziplocks with towels to reduce condensation.

I'd think that would jack up the humidity, i.e. you'ld be robbing Peter to pay Paul. The cooler idea has some merit, but it seems like an awful lot of work.
