Aristocrat shipped to Canada???

I'm looking at possibly getting a bigger humidor and was looking at the Montegue (available at canadahumidor) and the Connoisseur (available at cheaphumidors). Then I started reading about Aristocrat humidors and they seem to have some really nice humidors as well.

Have any other BOTL had humidors shipped from the US to Canada and what has been your experience been with cost of shipping and any other costs (duties - are we looking at the taxes here or are there higher duties on humidors???)

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

[SIZE=3]I looked into it and between the cost of shipping and the duties it was going to add an additional $300 plus to the price. Give him a call though he is a great guy to deal with and I think a straight shooter.[/SIZE]

Thanks for the info. When you looked into it were the duties = to the the provincial and GST or was there a different rate for this. I was going to give him a call to get an idea on the shipping , but I don't know if he'll know about the duties/taxes issue. Thanks for the quick reply

I HIGHLY recommend hooking up with someone close to the border (Buffalo, Detroit, etc). A BOTL could potentially take delivery of it and you can pick it up and bring it across yourself. Get it?

To clarify... Because Bob builds them here, they are TECHNICALLY covered under NAFTA. To avoid taking it in the ass by Customs, you're better off picking it up in the States. Do your NAFTA declaration and be done with it.

newfie had one shipped up from the states somewhere....400 bucks for the humi or there abouts and like 60 in duties....declared as a wood box

As has been mentioned there are no duties, it is classified as furniture and is covered under free trade. You have to pay shipping (around $150) plus taxes and brokerage unless you broker it yourself.

I bought a Montegue with a Oasis 2 XL humidifier from Colin from CanadaHumidor and it was cheaper than ordering it from the US for this model because Colin sells it for only 50$ more than the best price dealer in the US. He charged me 150$ shipping and handling....l highly recommend him for that model. I have 2 of them and they work great....
My next one will be a Aristocrat because the construction looks a lot better and it's custom biult in the US.

Thank you for your feedback. If I go with the Montegue, I think I will go with canadahumidor for the reason the you mentionned (not much of a price difference with the US vendors + no issues with customs). However, since I'm still looking at the options and have heard so many good things about Aristocrat, I thought I would see if any one else has had any experience having them shipped here. Since I don't live near Buffalo or Detroit, I think my only option is having it shipped directly to me, but otherwise that sounds like a good idea !!

We have shipped quite a number of humidors to Canada over the years. There are no additional duties or taxes under Nafta--just the usual GST & provincial taxes.

Shipping costs for an Aristocrat End Table to Canada is running approx $150-$200.00 US depending on location, plus the customs brokerage which is approx $100.00. I would need a specific postal code to get a more precise shipping quote.

I received my cabinet from Bob end of March this year and it arrived in absolutely perfect condition. The box and pallette it came on looked as if it hadn't left the shipping dock at Bob's yet. The shipping company he used was great, the brokerage fee was incredibly reasonable. For reference I had it shipped to the GTA.
