How to bring an old humi back to life....
So many years ago my fiance' bought me a nice little humi for christmas. I used it for quite some time before we moved and then it ended up sitting alone with nothing it in. Only thing is the humi is TINY!!! Maybe the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. From what I can tell it still seals well but I remember the last time I tried to resusitate it I could not get it to work.
Is there any way that I can get it to come back to life? ![]() |

Re: How to bring an old humi back to life....
There are many threads about "re-seasoning" a humidor, I would suggest you try looking at some of those. If the seal is still good, there is no reason it shouldn't work. If you are spending much time here in the Jungle, you may decide to upgrade to something bigger....trust me.

Re: How to bring an old humi back to life....
I found an old used humidor at the local second-hand shop for 5 bucks.
It's spanish cedar, dry as a bone. I wiped down the inside with distilled water, and dropped a jar of the humidifying crystals in it. Hygrometer reads 60-65% rh, good enough for me. That's all you need to do. |

I can't tell you how many people (including myself) have said "I'll get a 100 count humidor, I'll never need any more than that" only to find themselves upgrading later because they ran out of room. ![]() But hey, if you already have it and it seals...you might as well get some use out of it....even if you get a bigger one also. ![]() |

Re: How to bring an old humi back to life....
Well, I kind of like the fact of having a nice humi to display.
When I get to the point of buying full boxes, or I have too many individual sticks, I'll go with a cooler (or a Vinotemp). But that will be in a closet somewhere. Not on display. Althuogh the Vino is nice enough to display.

Re: How to bring an old humi back to life....
Ok cool... I was thinking of picking up some beads (a small jar) and a small digital hygrometer as the one in the humi is pretty much worthless (or atleast seems to be). I will be moving to a new house soon and will actually have a covered patio that I can sit out and smoke on so that is part of the reason I want to get this bad boy up and going again. Then down the road upgrade to something larger and keep the small one on my desk for those stick that I plan on smoking soon....
