Got my 300 count glasstop humi from Cheaphumidors and not happy

Got this one:

http://www.cheaphumidors.com/Merchan...oduct_Count=11

Well, not only does it appear I got an imperfect as there are several markings in the lacquer, such as fingerprints and scuff marks, but the humi holds nowhere near 300. I know most humi's only hold 2/3's at most but this one surely holds far less. The two drawers aren't even high enough to double stack cigars! I mean, they're only 7" deep to begin with. My Bolivar Suntuoso en Tubos don't even fit and they're typically 7" long. But not being able to stack them two high is plain daft - the drawer won't close if you do!

Also, the two pull out bins use screws, that's it. There's no system to keep the screws in place so after pulling them up and down a few times the screws loosen and fall out!

I've extremely disappointed with this lousy box and am going to return it. Now I'm just going to go for the largest I logically can. I mean, I want boxes and this supposed "300 count" can hold nowhere near that. I'm not even sure it can hold 150.

That's why I don't like drawers in that small of a humidor. They severly cut the capacity. They have good customer service and I'm sure they will accomodate you.

I have purchased two humidors from cheaphumidors and one of them came in the same condition that you described. I contacted them and they said I inadventanly was shipped an imperfect. They gave two options send it back for a "perfect" one or they would knock 25% or so off the cost. I took the reduction and found them to be a stand up company. As far as capacity, it has been my experience that I half whatever they state as capacity ie 300 capacity holds 150 cigars. I know it sucks but it seems to be standard throughout the business. Return it and find the closest Target and go for the Vino.

Oh, don't get me wrong guys... Cheaphumidors is an awesome company and I stand by them. This is my third or so purchase and the first two were perfect. I'm more disappointed at the capacity than I am the blemishes and that's not their fault. Now the problem is getting another humi that's large and fits my criteria.

If you want a large humidor to hold boxes, I recommend this one: Link

I know Mark at Cigarmony sells the same one or something very similar: Link

I love my Vault. I know it is a square box, but it sure is functional. It holds humidity great and I think I have 8-10 boxes in mine plus a bunch of singles (probably close to 100). I open mine about once every 3 months and only have to add water to my beads once every 6 months or so.

These pictures are a little old, but here is my Vault and the top shelf . I don't have any recent pictures of the second shelf or the bottom compartment.

That has been one of those BS cigar ripoffs forever, their stated capacity is never reality....and you don't know until you see it in person! Can't blame yourself for that one. These manufacturers must use Short Stories as the default cigar when figuring how many fit in there....or in the case of your humidor, NUB cigars!

Why not return that one and save up a few extra bucks and go for the end table unit.... http://www.cheaphumidors.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=DH-1500C&Category_Code=FURNITUREHUMIDORS&Product_Coun t=3
I know it's over twice the price, but in the long run it should prove to be a better long term investment. Christmas is coming ya' know maybe some family can help kick in the difference.

I have heard great things about that humi. If they say it holds 1,200 cigars, you should at least be able to get 600 - 700 sticks in there.

Good Luck.

Hey Rev any chance of a review on those Boli Suntuoso's. I saw them in the window of JR on fifth ave this morning and my mouth watered. Too bad they were closed.

Couldn't agree with you more.

Even if you plan on starting a serious collection, I think everybody should start with a humidor (just my opinion ). Even if I one day get a large wine cooler, I think I will always have a humidor or two.

i'd rather put in a little extra work, conditioning, seasoning, upkeeping, and monitoring a nice wooden humidor... .than have an ugly cooler sittign in my family room.

Humidor upkeep is part of the fun. it forces you to get close to your cigars, it's intimate.

i rearrange my humidor weekly!!
