I have modified one of my Ronson's using txmatt's lighter modification thread, you just have to take the outer casing off. My turbo'd Ronson will get a flame about 2 inches high before it starts sputtering too bad.

I took mine apart like txmatt said and what I have is the (for a better term as I have had more than a few) high/low screw is set in plastic and does not use a piece of metal to adjust the screw. If I am missing something please let me know.

Thanks

Wish I would have seen this sooner. Sometimes there is a molded plastic tab around the keyed metal hi/low dial. The Z-Plus lighter inserts are like that. If the Ronson is similar to the Z-Plus you will just use a small screwdriver or the edge of a pen knife to pry up the plastic tab instead of a metal tab. Alternately, you can cut/break off whatever plastic is hitting the stop and preventing it from traveling further (this is less desirable, but I have purchased lighters that have no stop at all)..

I was gifted a Ronson a couple of months ago and this thing is like gold,,,I drop it, leave it in the washer, fill it with good butane without purging or anything and it works the very first time I click it. They should call this the "eternal flame",,,works so good I went and bought another 8 at WallyWorld for $24 for all of them. Hell, I paid over $100 for my prometheus that sits on the chest of drawers and barely sparks after owning it for less than 2 months.

  • What kind of butane are you using?
  • Have you bled and refilled? Did you turn the butane all the way down to do this?
I am confident that we can find a solution to this, but if not XIKAR will always honor the Wolf Brand warranty.

I love your cutters but may try one of your lighters, too. I think I am becoming a pyromaniac with all of my lighters.

Re: Lighter Problems

I have a Prometheus lighter which I've sent back to the factory twice for repairs. It works for 2-3 months then just dies. Of course, the warranty expired some time ago. What a disappointment....

Spend a little money on a ST Dupont x-tend, you won't be disapointed.

You can find them new, and a little cheaper then retail on ebay.
