Lighter Problems

Ok I just bought a new butane lighter off elighters. Before I had a colibri firebird which needless to say broke! The little rubber around the metal sparker was cut hence the spark never made it to top hmm anyways

So I bought a new wolf xikar lighter, it's like the cheapest thing xikar has haha

Well for the life of me I can't get the darn thing to light

I filled it with fluid let it sit till the next day just bc I was heading out the door but it wouldn't light, I played with the adjuster and it won't light, when I take it down to a lower setting it almost lights, but never get's there. I can see the spark so that's working and the fuel is coming out. What's up here any ideas?

Re: Lighter Problems

Try using your butane through the burner. It could be clogged in some way. You will get lots of spray but it has worked for me in the past.

Might have been all those "tiny bubbles" Don Ho sung about. I read that you should always purge the tank and put it on the lowest setting when re filling. Also, do not shake the fluid prior to filling. When you say "play with",,,,,,please explain,,,

Re: Lighter Problems

Lady that works for one of the major lighter makers tols a friend on a cruise that you should actually put it on the "highest" setting when filling it and then click it. That way the pressure will force any build-up out of the valve. I don't know because I use a Ronson Jet-Lite and it makes no difference how you fill it or what type of fuel you use.

I bought 5 back in Sep of 06. Two work fantastic, one I threw away because it just would not light, and the other two only have a flame about 3/4 of an inch on high. They wont even light on the low setting.

Jfreak53 and everyone,

My name is Jacob, I am XIKAR's Marketing Coordinator. I understand how frustrating this can be, so if you are still having the problem, I would love to walk through it with you. First lets start with the basics.
  • What kind of butane are you using?
  • Have you bled and refilled? Did you turn the butane all the way down to do this?
I am confident that we can find a solution to this, but if not XIKAR will always honor the Wolf Brand warranty.

XIKAR For Life,

Jacob
