Is it Possible for hygro to salt test then fail in humi?
Salt tested my digital hygrometer for 24 hours and it was 75% then 76% - Put it back in the humidor and the RH is showing 55% on the one i tested - but on two analog hygrometers in there, RH reads 65'ish, what gives? So as the topic of the thread Is it Possible for hygrometer to salt test well then fail inside humi?

Re: Is it Possible for hygro to salt test then fail in humi?
Short answer, NO. If the hygrometer tested at 75% and when you placed it in the humidor shows 55%, I would be inclined to say the humidor is at 55%.
Did you salt test all the hygrometers at the same time?

Hope the beads can fix this shit. I've done an air tightness test with a bill, and it's pretty tight. |

Oddly enough, even with the digi reading 55 now, they don't feel "dry" they feel more firm when i buy them at the tobacconist who's RH is 67ish.
What can i do to my humidor to increase the effectiveness of the seal and make it MORE air tight? |

Re: Is it Possible for hygro to salt test then fail in humi?
Bro, I honestly think you and I are falling victim to the same thing, really dry homes durring Canadian fall and winter.
Today I tried using a vaporizer placed in the hallway adjacent to the den (door closed) where I keep my humi, a good 30ft away. Brought my RH up 5%, prior to this I had 1 large foam humidifier, one glass candy jar filled with distilled water and 2oz's of 70% beads crammed into my desktop and was still stuck at 55%. You may want to try dropping the temp setting on your house thermostat a few degrees too, I found 67F to be ideal, 72F, my previous setting caused a 5% drop in RH. Might be worth a shot? My humi has a good seal and was great all spring and summer. |
