OtterBox travel humi

I have been looking at an otterbox travel humi that holds 5 churchills. They look really cool and seem well very constructed. It comes with some 50/50 too. Anyone know much about these? I don't wanna get a piece of junk but I don't want to pay $50 for a simple travel humi either. I need a rugged and waterproof one like this as I go storm chasing a lot and don't need a wooden box.

I used to just take along a ziplock baggie of smokes which was fine for the humidity retention but they sometimes got bent or even broken. I never took along my primos due to the damage risk.

here's a link: http://www.cigarcaddy.com/index2.html

Thanks for any info or any alternative ideas.

I just use a three finger case for running aroud for a day or so, but when the wife and I go on a trip I do a little net research and find the shops along the way for my road stogies. I think its to hard to regulate temp in a travel-dor on the road(if your traveling in the southern states). Down here if you leave them in a locked car for any amount of time during the summer they'll cook.

Fireman,

Tupperware in the cooler takes care of that problem.
I have put stogies in ziplock bags, insulated with foam
wrap and put inside a tupperware container and put
them in the cooler. It is better than them cooking and
molding in the trunk of the car.

Have a look at these travel humidors--they're rugged and they work: http://www.thesherman.com/ Some are pretty reasonable. Have a great trip!

Lusi,

Those look very similar to the otterbox but I think the otter might be a bit cheaper per stick. These are a tad pricey for me and what I am using it for but some of them are really nice (I like the sniper one).

i have the sniper. it requires a few "modifications" to work up to the standards of a perfectionist. if you are one... let me know and i'll snap a few pics of the mods i found necessary. if you're not, buy it and enjoy it just the way it is.

hehehe.

If I had to use an otterbox instead of a pelican type box (sherman) I would use the 3500 series only. It would fit real nice in the coat pocket, and hold the churchills. Other than that, my lips are sealed.

Cigar Cady

I use a cigar caddy when I play golf or go boating. It works great! I haven't had a broken cigar since I started using it.

What are the modifications that are needed for the otterbox? I had one similar to the coat pocket version made by Armor something or other. I gave it away and now I want to replace it because it is perfect for protecting a couple of sticks for day trips and the like.

Lamar, my statement was "IF" I had to use an otterbox. The only I saw that I liked was the pocket one. Sorry for the mis-info bro.

Otherwise, I have a 3 cigar pocket holder, and I never leave home without my 18 sherman.

I would have to disagree with that one Lamar, but thanks.

It is just a personal point of view on the Cigar Caddy. I don't care for the latches on some models, I have seen them fall off. Ane the foam trays they use, are not "MY" ideal type of trays.

Just some more of my $.02

Unhappy Hmmmmm

OK....I am half way thru my LGC morning smoke and I am beginning to wonder about this purchase. I cannot have the damn latches falling off as I might get a bit rough with this thing at times.

Still thinking....and thanks OPT for the insight

the otterbox is excellent. I use one on a daily basis. Try Cigarbid.com when looking for one. They seem to have 2 or 3 posted at all times, and some even with cigars in them.

heres one auction ending march 6.
