Temperature issues
The temp in my humi stays around 70 degrees at a rh of 63 to 66%.
Is this temp too high? I have moved the humi around the house trying to find a place for it to live where it will give me a lower temp but no luck. I'm currently using the 69% boveda packs and they seem to holding the rh pretty good but I'm looking at moving to the beads for a cost saving measure. Being winter here and for the past month the outside temp has been anywhere from -20 below 0 to 10 degrees above 0, I keep the house thermo set at 70 degrees with a humidifier running giving me a rh in the house of about 35 - 45%. What can I do? |

Re: Temperature issues
I like to have mine at 65 degrees and 65 % RH... If there really isn't a cooler area, like a closet or bathroom in which you can keep the humidor during the winter when you have the heat going...you can either adjust the heat in your place and wear a sweater or go the Vinotemp route (wine fridge with a thermoelectric cooling disk instead of the usual refrigration unit which tends to suck moisture away from our precious cigars).
But this is a preference, I don't think having your sticks at 70 is a problem as long as your humidity doesn't go over 70 too. Any higher in both, I'd start worrying. |

Re: Temperature issues
I can never get mine down to seventy unless I open the windows in the winter.

Re: Temperature issues
Should be fine however in the Summer months try moving it into the basement (assuming you have one) as that should be the coolest part of your house.
My humidor in the basement tends to hover around 62F and 63RH in the Winter and 67F 65RH in the Summer. |

Re: Temperature issues
As the brothers have said, you're good. One thing that drives me crazier is worrying about my temp and RH,,,,my cigar therapist says I need a new hobby.

Re: Temperature issues
i've long since covered the LCDs of my hygrometers with custom cutouts that read 65% 65F so I don't have to worry about it anymore.
Life is good.

Re: Temperature issues
70 degrees is fine, in 2007, I kept my humidor under my bunk, in a tent, in Iraq.

Re: Temperature issues
I would focus more on making sure your humidity stays up in winter then the temp... you are golden at 70*. Make sure you keep an eye on recharging your beads as needed if you switch to them as in winter they take more attention then warmer months.
