Humidity issues with season change
Hey guys. I'm in SE Pennsylvania area and its been getting pretty cold here. I have a Vino with Scotts beads and cedar shelves. My drain is plugged too and my Hygro is calibrated. All summer long it sat steady at 65%. Now that its been cold out i can't get my humidity above 60-61%. It is pretty cold in my room (about 60 deg). I'm at my parents house so this is the only room i can stick my vino in. Will this affect the cigars at all? I've tried the sponge with the distilled water and it will bring the humidity up for a few days and then it sits back down to 60-61%.
thanks guys! |

Re: Humidity issues with season change
I would not worry about a couple of degrees of RH. Personally anywhere between 60 - 65 % suits me (and most others just fine).
If your super worried about it look around and pick up a cheap Cigar Oasis or Hydra (usually around 50 $) for a more "active" humidification source. Of course as always check your beads to insure they are "charged" also the more beads you have the quicker the humity will "bounce back" so if your using the min it does take time.
