Humidor problem, hopefully fixed

I bought a humidor over the summer when I was visiting the USA in Marshalls (expat here and yup, Marshalls sells humidors). Brought it back, and set it up. Seemed to work fine until last month. Since last month it wont go over 50%. When I take out the humidifier and put a shot glass of distilled water, I can get it about 70% for a day or so then it goes back to about 55-60%.
So I got tired of messing around and found a place online that will ship to me the beads. They should come in tomorrow. Last few days I started reseasoning it, took everything out and started from scratch.
Hopefully with the beads it should keep the right humidity.
With the beads, do I need the humidifier?
closest image I could find is

except the humidifier has a "tray" in the bottom middle which is removable and the whole top is glass.

Any other recommendations?
Thanks

You wont need the plastic thingy and if your humi has a glass top the seal could be bad. I would also salt test your gauge to see how accurate it is. beads wont keep it stable if it leaks.

You can stick a dollar bill half way in and close the lid there should be some resistance pulling the bill out, if it is a glass top I dont know of a way, but it would most likely need to be sealed anyway they usually do. hope others will help too.
