Which books about cigars should be in every smoker's library?

I hope everyone is having a fine day and will be enjoying an excellent smoke this evening!

I'd like to read some more books about cigars and would appreciate any recommendations from our brothers and sisters of the leaf.

I heartily recommend the following books to everyone. They have been my teachers. Each is written well and has a wonderful perspective on the world of cigars, which we so enjoy:

1. The Complete Guide to Cigars: An Illustrated Guide To The World's
Finest Cigars
by Steve Luck (200

2. Perelman's Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars by Richard B. Perelman (200

3. Cigars (2nd Edition) by Tad Gage (2007)

4. Churchill's Cigar by Stephen McGinty (2007)

5. The Cigar Companion by Marvin R. Shanken (2005)

6. An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Post Revolution Havana Cigars By Min Ron Nee (2005)

7. Perelman's Pocket Cyclopedia of Havana Cigars by Richard B. Perelman (2005)

8. The Ultimate Cigar Book by Richard Carleton Hacker (Tenth Anniversary Edition, 2003)

9. The Art of Cigar Bands by Philippe Mesmer (2000)

10. Cubans: The Ultimate Cigars by William P. Mara (199

11. A Woman's Guide to Cigar Smoking: Everything You Need To Know To Be the Ultimate Cigar Aficionada by Rhona Kasper (199

12. The Illustrated History of Cigars by Bernard Roy and Maurice Szafran (New Revised Edition 199

13. The Cigar Companion (3rd Edition) by Anwer Bati (1997)

14. Cigars by Red Howard (1997)

15. The Art of Fine Cigars by John-Manuel Andriote, Andrew E. Falk, and B. Henry Perez (1996)

16. A Passion For Cigars by Joel Sherman (1996)

17. The Havana Cigar - Cuba's Finest by Charles Del Todesco (1996)

18. The Good Cigar by H. Paul Jeffers and Kevin Gordon (1996)

19. Cigar Chic: A Woman's Perspective by Tomina Edmark (1995)

20. The Complete Guide for Habanos' Enthusiasts by Habano (1995)

21. The Ultimate Cigar Book by Richard Carleton Hacker (1st Edition, 1993)

22. The Gourmet Guide To Cigars by Paul Garmirian (1990)

23. The Connoisseur's Book of The Cigar by Z. Davidoff (1969)

You can find the older books at abe.com and the newer ones, of course, at your local book store or at sites such as cigarmony.com and bestcigarprices.com, etc., so look around, and take part in the "great conversation."

I'd greatly appreciate anyone's recommendation of other books that have been written about cigars and smoking. We're looking forward to Colin Ganley's book, which hopefully will be printed soon. He's a scholar (cigarresearch.com) in Oxford, England, who has been doing a lot of up-to-date research into this hobby of ours.

If you know of a book that will help us learn more about the world of cigars and the people who make them, will you be kind enough to tell us about it? We'll update the list as we hear from you and we'll be very grateful for your insights.

We read, they say, to know we're not alone. We smoke, it seems, to reflect on what we've read and to enjoy a gift that has been made by the skillful hands of others.

With many thanks,
Don

One I highly recommend, even if you don't smoke Habanos is An Illustrated Encyclopedia of Post-Revolution Havana Cigars by Min Ron Nee. Excellent insights into the history and evolution of the cigar industry. The pictures alone are worth the $129 price tag.

For Cubans I have and absolutely love The Complete Guide For Habanos' Enthusiasts. A wealth of information and pictures.

Thanks for sharing with us Don! I have been looking for good books on cigars to read. Hastings which is our local book store does not carry anything worth the time to read. I will have to look for the books you've mentioned.
