Wine Cooler into a Humidor?

Ok, so I was wandering around Home Depot today, and saw a 16 bottle stainless steel wine chiller, with a clear glass door. On sale for $100.00 My thought is, if I buy this, It could be kept near the kitchen, matching the stainless appliances we have, and access to smokes would be easier, and I'd get a BIGGER humi! The wife seems to be ok with it, but we don't have the extra cash. My thought is I will go ahead after we get the money, but my question is this, do I plug it in and keep it cool? Or do I leave it unplugged? I plan on humidifying it with either a bunch of beads, or an Oasis XL... Whats your thoughts on it? Here is a picture of the one I am looking at:

Re: Wine Cooler into a Humidor?

Johnson controller? Clue me in, and as far as bigger, the main reason for buying this is the price. I can't really justify the size it is now, as I don't have THAT many smokes, and can't afford to buy that many, but Im preparing for the future when I'll have 10-12 boxes of my own.. I know I SHOULD get a bigger one, but thats not gonna happen, and I figure I can at least convince the wife into this one!

Re: Wine Cooler into a Humidor?

I have an 8 count wine coolerdor that I love!!! It is already temperature controlled at 65 degrees, so I just have two 70% RH HumidiPucks in it to keep the RH controlled and it works like a champ! It has four boxes and a cab in it now with room to spare for more!
