Beads container

I know a lot of you beads guys are passionate that they are the best humidification product.

What do you keep them in in your boxes?

Advertisements recommend low shallow bowls, so as to maximize surface exposure.

What do you use? What kind of dimensions?

thanx.

Re: Beads container

I picked up several of these a the local Petco for $1.99 plus tax. They are the perfect size for silica gel beads.

Re: Beads container

I use pantyhose cut to about 12" long from the foot. Just put the beads in and then tie the other end off.

Re: Beads container

With the nylon sack - so you have a foot print of approx. 8-12 inches by 3 inches?

They come in smaller sizes, next time you are near a pet/aquarium store check out the selection.

Maximum exposed surface area for the beads is the goal.

"They come in smaller sizes, next time you are near a pet/aquarium store check out the selection. "

I guess I could, but wouldn't it be easier if some folks just told me the dimensions of the containers used for beads in your humidor? Oh and size of the humidor would help too as opposed to 'It depends on the size of the humidor'.

"Maximum exposed surface area for the beads is the goal."

Since you want maximum, you wouldn't be buying smaller sizes I assume.

Not sure if this will help you, but I've always found this Calculator, from Heartfelt, useful:

Measure the inside demensions of your humidor (l x w x h)

If it is:.......... Then use:
540 cu inches = 1 ounce
1080 cu inches = 2 ounces
1620 cu inches =3 ounces
2160 cu inches = 4 ounces
2700 cu inches = 5 ounces
3240 cu inches = 6 ounces
3780 cu inches = 7 ounces
4320 cu inches = 8 ounces
4860 cu inches = 9 ounces
5400 cu inches = 10 ounces
5940 cu inches = 11 ounces
6480 cu inches = 12 ounces
7020 cu inches = 13 ounces
7560 cu inches = 14 ounces
8100 cu inches = 15 ounces
8640 cu inches = 16 ounces

Re: Beads container

I put the beads in white knee-high socks (less than a buck a pair at Walgreens). Then I put those in the rectangular humidifiers that come with most humidors. I have two on the lid of my 300 ct humi (saves room for cigars), attached with magnets, and one down in the bottom.

For the coolerdor, I just put the socks/bags in the bottom of the cooler. The socks are very effective at keeping any bead flakes from escaping and getting onto your cigars.

Re: Beads container

I made a couple of these Bead Pillows. They hold 6oz. of beads each (3/4 lb. total for my 120 qt cooler).

Re: Beads container

Mini M&M's. Take tack, pock holes, fill. Have one in my 50 ct humi and it works great. The other is in my 100ct with another heartfelt tube.
