Too Much Moisture in Wine Cooler?

Hello guys.. i have a bit of an issue. some info first.. i have a 28 bottle Urbina wine cooler that ive had for over a year. its always been great, never had any problems. when i bought it, i just added beads and shoved cigars in it. never any problems with moisture or anything

Fast forward to last week; i bought a second cooler, a 16 bottle Avanti wine cooler.. I have the temperature setting on MINIMUM (warmest setting there is). i dont have much in there yet (6 full boxes of cigars). I noticed one day (near the back where the drain is). There was a puddle of water collected right ontop of the hole of the drain, and water was beading up from the condenser down to the drain..

Now this is all new to me, considering ive never had any in the other one.. Since i cant go any warmer, how the hell can i get rid of this? i have tried putting tape over the drain, and there was still water.. then i tried taking the tape off, and keeping the drain plug open, and the water still collects on the same spot..

Basically i want to put cedar trays in there (and on the bottom too), so i cannot have ANY moisture on the bottom...

Any suggestions guys?

thanks!

Ron

Re: Too Much Moisture in Wine Cooler?

hmm ihave heard of people putting some dry beads in a tray on the bottom to soak it up... is there a way to somehow catch the water, and direct it toward the dry beads?

You don't use any kind of temp. controller? I have one to ensure my temps stay 62-70 at all times.

As for moisture, I put 1/2 the beads right where the water drips down to off the back wall. This also makes it easy the rare times I need to re-up my distilled water (read: every 2-3 months), as I just spray the back wall and gravity does the rest.

Re: Too Much Moisture in Wine Cooler?

I little bit of moisture collecting down there is normal.

Put some of your beads in a mesh bag and put it over the drain hole(leave the tape on the hole). The beads will absorb the moisture and redistribute as required.

Once you get some Spanish cedar in there, you will notice a decline in the dripping.
