Acid Cigar Boxes

I have a couple of old Acid cigar boxes that are empty. I had a bunch of loose cigars laying around and wanted to organize them in boxes. Does anyone know if they treat the wood in these? I know they treat the tobacco used for the cigars. To my nose, they smell mostly like spanish cedar, just don't want to ruin any other cigars. Thanks in advance.

Re: Acid Cigar Boxes

I do not believe they treat the wood, but the aroma and flavors may infuse the wood from the cigars that are in it. It is the same concept if you have your flavored/infused cigars in a humi then you have to basically use that humi for only those types of cigars.

I wouldn't mix them to be on the safe side...I'm sure that over time exposure to the same storage conditions that was once used to house Acids would alter the taste of your cigars.

No, they do not treat the wood.

Re: Acid Cigar Boxes

Although they don't treat the wood, they do stuff infused tobacco leaves in around the cigars and the wood can absorb some of the aroma and oils from that tobacco. Unless you wouldn't mind your cigars picking up traces of those aromas I wouldn't put them in the boxes.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll probably just not use them to house cigars in to be on the safe side.

Let them air out and see how they smell. I'll bet if they still have the Acid aroma you will be able to tell. I know I could...
