beads in a electronic humidifier?

Ive heard of people splitting open the water cartridge on an Oasis or Le Veil Humidifier and removing the foam then replacing it with beads. Has anybody tried this? Does it work? Does it work well? the cartridges that come with a Le Veil doesnt last long. You can only refill it so many times before it absolutely wont absorb any water. At $10 a pop it adds up. Ive even thought about dumping it all together and just goin with beads....but im a gadget nut and would like to continue using it.

I have never heard of that before. I would just drop the Humidifier and go with the beads and only the beads for humidifying your humidor.

Re: beads in a electronic humidifier?

a lot of people have removed the foam and added beads to these. I saw a thread on here several months ago that showed in detail how they did it.

Dont see the logic of using Beads, in an electronic humiderfier, that you set it and forget it except for watering, beads are goning to have same effect. But add to the cost. I have Oasis just replaced the Humidifier after 1 1/2 years, was still good just playing it safe

Re: beads in a electronic humidifier?

You can just use a kitchen knife to cut up the foam through the larger center hole. Cut it in sections, pop out the pieces. In no time it'll all be out.

The benefit of the beads is that you don't need PG and they never get mold, thereby saving you from having to repurchase a new resevior in that event. You may even be able to put more water in the resevoir from the space between the beads.

I have 3 working fine now for over a year.
