I got some at Menards and ripped it to fit in the slots on the lid of the cooler. Its not 100% necessary but it looks cool and is sure to help a little. The cigar boxes will do most of the work.
Did you do anything to that cooler to make it stand vertical like that or does it just happen to sit perfect the way it came? The reason why I ask is because I am looking at a 120QT Igloo and it will lean forward when standing vertical.

I put some little rubber pads on the bottom that I got at Menards. They use em under chairs. I only needed an inch or so. On a bigger cooler like that Id consider maybe making an oak base that you can screw the cooler to. At least thats what i was going to do before i settled on the 48 qt.

Yep you do - mine didn't take that long at all, due to the thinness of the wood in those AF boxes.

Another question I have. How do I go about adding ceder shelves? How do I hold them up?

find a cooler with the slots in it. Most of the Igloos have them to strengthen the sides. Just cut your boards to fit. The slots in my 48qt Igloos are about 3/8" to 1/2".
