Digital hygrometer question.

Hey guys, just got my HygroSet adjustable hygrometer in the mail and i just have a few fast questions.

Is it normal for the temperature to change so slowly with these things? I pulled it out of the package and it was reading 79 degrees in my 74 degree house and did not move from there for nearly 10 minutes. I even stuck it into the fridge to make sure it was working, and the temperature change was very slow, while the humidity change was very quick. Is this just the nature of the beast?

It also seems to generaly be reading about 1 degree to high. Maybe im just being a anal heh? LOL.

Thanks, you guys rule!

---Joe

Re: Digital hygrometer question.

Depending on the hygrometer, they can definitely be slow. I've heard of people drilling holes in the backs (near the temp sensor) to increase sensitivity.

Re: Digital hygrometer question.

It does depend on the hygrometer as it has been said. They all take time. Just be patient.

Re: Digital hygrometer question.

I have another question. How acurate are your guys humidity readings right out of the box? I was actually lazy and grabbed the humidipak calibration kit. Im almost at the 24 hour mark and my hygro is only reading 72% right now. Are these digi hygros know to be off as much as 3% out of the box?

Re: Digital hygrometer question.

Ohh yeah they can be off right out of the box. Get a piece of paper and label it with how much your reading is off by for the hydrometer and then you know what it really is at.
