Heartfelt Tube Supposed to Hold 65% but Hygro reads 70%
I just changed my 50ct humi over to a blue heartfelt tube that is supposed to hold the humi at 65%. I did as instructed and did not add any water because I wanted to bring the humidity down in the humi. The cheap foam puck that I was using was keeping the humi at 72-74%, but the lowest I can get with the blue cap tube from heartfelt is 70%. I thought my hygro my be off and since I bought a new one two days ago I conducted a salt test. The one I am using in my 50ct that I am judging everything off of is -1 at 75%. So it is fairly accurate. Should I continue to wait and see if the humidity lowers to 65% or contact heartfelt? I have also tried opening the box to allow the humidity to drop below 60% before closing the lid but the humidity always goes back up to 69-71%.

Re: Heartfelt Tube Supposed to Hold 65% but Hygro reads 70%
two questions:
1. How long have you been using the heartfelt beads? Results will NOT be instantaneous. The beads will have a lot of work to do pulling all that moisture out of all of your cigars as well as the wood of the humi. 2. How long did you salt test your hygro? Anything shorter than 24 hours is too short.

Re: Heartfelt Tube Supposed to Hold 65% but Hygro reads 70%
Heartfelt beads have been in there for about 5 days, so I will give it more time. I did the salt test for 24 hours but checked it at 12 hours without opening the bag. The hygro I got at a cigar B&M read 74% and the walmart acur-rite one read 70% at 12 and 24 hours with no change.

Re: Heartfelt Tube Supposed to Hold 65% but Hygro reads 70%
Another pertinent question is if the humidor is empty or if its full of cigars. Cigars can hold quite a bit of moisture in the box and it could take some time for the beads to catch up.
Also, consider doing a search for similar threads in the forum. There is already a similar conversation taking place within the current 2 or 3 pages of threads with someone else using heartfelt beads. Try this one too from a couple months ago: Humidity Concerns and Heartfelt Beads ? good luck. |

Thanks. I should have used the search button but because I was looking at the devil sites I was already a little late for an interview.
Thanks for the help, the humidor is about 60-70% full so I will give it a lot more time. 70% is not bad but 65% would be better. |

Re: Heartfelt Tube Supposed to Hold 65% but Hygro reads 70%
As everyone has told you, it takes a while for the cigars and the cedar to give off the moisture they have stored in them. Patience is important when you are trying to bring the rh down but it will get there.

Youre at least three weeks from stabilization. You were wise not to moisten the new beads. You might even need to remove them to a dryer environment for a couple days, then replace them.

Re: Heartfelt Tube Supposed to Hold 65% but Hygro reads 70%
I have the same problem. I ordered four 1 ounce tubes for my 120ct and filled them with the proper amount..humidity rose to 80% almost immediately. So I took 3 out and let them turn white, then put them back in. Now I'm waiting to see where it goes. It's at 68% now and it's been about 4 days.
