S.T. Dupunt re-filling 101

Several people have inquired about my S.T. Dupont lighters, especially how to PROPERLY refill one.

The lighter goes in the freezer for 5 - 10 minutes.

While the lighter is in the freezer, warm the vial of fuel in your hand. Tim, DO NOT put the vial in the microwave!

Take the lighter out of the freezer and screwthe vial in - Yes, there is threads.

The lighter sucks in the fuel (100% pure from France) in less than a second! It's a one-shot deal.

Seems like a little bit to go through, but it's really not. I do not use my S.T. Dupont lighters everyday, but I use them a lot. This was the first time I've refilled this one in over 8 months!

There are several different models. The one pictures in a Line 2, which uses the gold. Notice the gold paint inside the valve cover. Some use blue, green, and red.

They are nice. I had one and lost it. I found warming the bottle in your hand and having the lighter cold makes the difference. I found a few min in the freezer and warming the bottle a little in hand it sucked it right out. I think the main thing is, is to make sure there is a good temp difference between the bottle and the lighter, the lighter being cooler.

I like the James Bond Gun Metal. Found one but he only wanted 300 so I am thinking it may be fake. I asked the guy to send me a pic of the bottom but never heard back...

I use an adapter and Vector gas. Saves a lot of $ from having to buy the Dupont refills. You can find the adapters on eBay.

That's one of the things I love about my Ronson. There are no tricks or secrets to filling it properly. Just take a can of cheapo Ronson fuel and plug it in until full. No purging, cooling, warming or anything.

The Dupont is a nice looking lighter though!

You got this right,,,,my Ronson takes a charge without having to go through any of the steps they talk about on the can. I put the can into the lighter and voila',,,,,ready to burn in one minute. I don't even hardly wait for the lighter to warm up after a charge,,,,I just click it 3 times and the sucker has a flame you can weld with. I also have some more expensive lighters but I never use em anymore now that I have a dozen Ronsons. I'm still using the one I bought almost a year ago and I have left the sucker in my pants while doing the wash,,,take it out and it still lights.

BTW,,,I like Daves Dupont but I don't have Daves money.
