Idea for a new Humidor Build
OK fellas.... After visiting several shoppes around the Atlanta area... I noticed several had a chess board on a table....
Here's my idea. I have some Macassar Ebony, Bird's Eye Maple... a huge chunk of Bloodwood... Curly Maple, a nice piece of Cocobolo, oh yeah.... Gabon Ebony (the black black black stuff)... hmmmmm... and probably a few more than I can think of... At any rate..... I want to build a full size chess board - as the lid to a humidor. The humidor will have opposing drawers - enough to house maybe 5 - 10 cigars. One on each side for each opposing player. I don't know what I'll do with it after I build it.... and I certainly don't want to donate it to anybody.... but, it'll be a fun build and I can take ya'all step by step if ya want. (I do it anyway over on my blog, and cut and paste is a wonderful thing).... I'll start by drawing it up in a design program and take suggestions... And we can take this ride together...... (that is, after I get my 30 posts in)... |

Sounds awesome. I wish I was a woodworker. I can put up walls, build trusses, install doors but am lousy at fine work. I always admire those that have the gift!

I should have the drawing finished either tonight or tomorrow..... It's looking good so far. I'm racking my brain on how to seal the drawers..... but, I think I'm on to something....

I've got it..... just a little fiddlin' around with some different joinery techniques to make the drawer slide good and still provide a tight seal..... This thing is going to be bad-ass! I'm sure it'll take me at least a month to build it....
