Wolf V cutter vs Palio

I stopped by my B&M today and while I was paying for some Oliva series V Lanceros and Series G Belicosos I noticed they had the Wolf V cutter, wasn't a bad price So I got one. Having never tried a V cut before I was anxious to try it out. Now, while the cutter itself isnt nearly as well made as the palio, I must also notice that it is one third the price of a palio and with that in mind is a very good cutter. Anyway...I tried it out on an Oliva Series G belicoso and the v cut just didnt give me enough draw to enjoy the smoke properly. I was a little dissapointed. I dont regret buying the Wolf V cutter but I still prefer the Palio cut way more. May the V cut be more suited for different Vitolas?

Yeah... I don't imagine it would work well on a belicoso.

I've had mine almost a month now & really enjoy it. Works like a charm for me. Well worth the price I paid for it!

Give it a few more sticks... You won't be dissapointed.

I believe that typically people don't use a v-cutter on tapered ends like a beli or torpedo.

Although you can, I have done it and rotated the gar 90 degrees between cuts until I got deep enough into the gar to open up the draw. It worked great, but it is not what people normally do...

I am a recent convert to the V-cut. In my opinion it opens up the draw nicely without compressing the end of the gar.
And it provides a point of contact for our lips that is farther away from where tars n oils might build up on the end. This can avoid bitterness sometimes.

Rock on Sir!

I am a firm believer in the V Cut ( Cat's Eye Cut actually ) because it gets further into the cigar with a cut that helps to bring out more of the draw. I use a Boston Cutter ( Little Guy ) and it works on any cigar no matter what type. They are expensive for a reason,,,,they always work and I get the best cut ever which enhances the whole cigar experience. If you pay a lot of coin for a great cigar it doesn't make much sense to me to use a cutter that doesn't do the job. Kind of like driving a Porsche with the emergency brake on.
